This creates tiny wounds which initiates a natural healing process and accelerates the formation of new, healthy tissue. Since the wounds are tiny, there is significantly less downtime and less discomfort than with traditional ablative laser resurfacing treatments.
You will feel tiny pins on your skin followed by a little zap. Your skin will then feel warm, like a sunburn. The treatment may be slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. For more aggressive treatments, a topical numbing cream may be applied to reduce any discomfort.
The radio frequency resurfacing procedure normally takes between 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the size and location of the targeted area. Since each individual’s skin condition is unique, some people may have satisfactory results with three to four treatments, but others may require more sessions to achieve the dramatic results they seek.
Your skin will be red for the first 24 hours after treatment and you may experience some mild swelling and discomfort. With more aggressive treatments, there can be redness and flaking of affected skin for up to 5 days. You can resume your regular skin care and makeup routine 24 hours after treatment. Sun exposure is to be avoided during the healing period.
